Education Resources | Professional Bodies for Educational Psychologists Resources

Why is it important my Educational Psychologist is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)?

Posted on

The title “Educational Psychologist” (EP) is legally protected and hence only professionals who are registered with the HCPC are entitled to use it. The HCPC regulates a number of legally protected titles that apply to Psychologists in the UK, under the collective title of “Practitioner Psychologists”.  Other legally protected titles for Psychologists regulated by the HCPC include Registered psychologist, Clinical psychologist, Forensic psychologist and Counselling psychologist.  For a full list of the protected titles that the HCPC regulate go to https://www.hcpc-uk.org/about-us/who-we-regulate/the-professions/

At Psychology Direct, whilst we carry out robust vetting procedures of our own, we also insist all our Psychologists are registered either with the HCPC and/or the BPS. This means we know our EPs have access to excellent, ongoing professional development opportunities and gives additional peace of mind to our clients, that we only supply the high calibre professionals to work in their schools.

You can check if professionals are on the HCPC register here: https://www.hcpc-uk.org/check-the-register/
